Named the Rays pitching coach on November 21, 2005, his first major league coaching
position...Becomes the sixth pitching coach in club history following Rick Williams (1998-2000);
Bill Fischer (2000-01); Jackie Brown (2002), Chris Bosio (2003) and Chuck Hernandez
(2004-05)...Spent the last six seasons as a pitching coach in the Angels minor league system including
the last 3 years as roving pitching instructor...In the three previous seasons served as pitching coach at AAA Salt Lake City in 2002, AA Arkansas in 2001 and rookie level Butte in 2000...Was also the pitching coach for the
Scottsdale Scorpions in the 2003 Arizona Fall League.
Playing Career:
Played 14 seasons of pro ball including four in the majors with the Angels (1992-95)...Was 11-4 with a 4.47 ERA and nine saves in 115 major league career appearances...Used exclusively as a reliever in his major league career...Longest outing was 4 innings in a 10-3 win July 20, 1995 at Toronto...Best season came in 1995 his only full season in the majors- when he went 6-1 leading the Angels in relief wins...The Angels bullpen which also included Troy Percival and
closer Lee Smith - posted a 3.63 ERA, 2nd best in the AL...That 1995 Angels squad was 10-1/2 games ahead on August 15 and wound up losing the division championship in a one-game playoff to Seattle...Earned his first two major league wins at Yankee Stadium two days apart, Aug 21 and 23, 1992...Never made an error in the majors...Made his major league debut on July 6, 1992 vs. Toronto and struck out the only batter he faced (Tampa native Derek Bell)...Selected by the Royals in the second round of the 1986 June draft ... Curt Schilling was also a second round draft choice that year by the Red Sox.

College...His family owns Aunt Chiladas Restaurant and Rustlers Roost in Phoenix, Arizona...Prepped at United Township (IL) High School where he wrestled, played football and baseball before graduating in 1983...Married (Tami) with three children: two daughters (Madison and Tatum) and a son (Brooks).
