The Rays will be moving their Spring Training home to Charlotte County starting in 2009.

What is at the Sports Park now? The Charlotte Sports Park served as the spring home of the Texas Rangers for 15 years before they moved to Arizona a few years ago. The site already has a 5,300-seat stadium, 5 1/2 practice fields and other assorted facilities (covered cages, gang mounds, etc.) required for spring training.
 
What will the project entail? As part of a $27 million dollar renovation, the stadium will be completely renovated to be on par with the best facilities in the Grapefruit League. The existing seating bowl will be reconfigured to meet disability codes, two outfield berms, a new suite level and group areas will be added, and a 360 degree fan-friendly pedestrian concourse will ring the stadium. When completed, capacity will be approximately 6,000 fixed seats + another 1,500 in GA areas. In addition, a new 40,000 square foot building will house administrative offices and brand new major and minor league clubhouses.
 
When would we move in? We will be ready in time for Spring Training 2009.
 
What happens next? We are currently designing the facility and hope to begin construction by the end of the summer.
 
Will the County continue to operate programs at the Sports Park during construction? Yes, the County will continue to operate various programs at the Sports Park during construction of our new spring training facility. Any questions regarding current programs should be directed to the County Parks Department at 941-743-2425.
 
Each $50.00 deposit is non-refundable and non-transferable. Each deposit represents a commitment toward one 2009 Full Season Spring Training Ticket. This deposit secures a priority position on the Charlotte County Priority List and must be applied toward season tickets for the Rays 2009 Spring Training season. Once the seat selection process begins, you will be contacted to select your specific seat location based on when your deposit was placed and after existing Spring Training Season Ticket Holders are accommodated. Full payment will be due upon seat selection. Please note, additional deposits will be processed in the order in which they were received, not with the original order. Prices for the Spring Training Season Tickets are to be determined.
