Rays Student Ambassador Program


The Rays are seeking energetic and motivated high school students to apply for the Rays Student Ambassador Program.

The Rays Student Ambassador Program will allow Tampa Bay area high school students first-hand experience with a professional sports organization. A select group of applicants will learn more about the role the Rays play in our community and help the team nourish and foster new and existing community outreach programs. The program will consist of attending monthly meetings, participating in community service projects, and assisting with internal fundraisers benefiting the Rays Baseball Foundation.

GROUP

  • The group will consist of 10 - 15 highly motivated, highly recommended high school students with a strong desire to help the community, as well as learn about the complexity and inner-working of a professional sporting organization.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Students must be high school sophomores or juniors at time of application.
  • Must submit an essay along with completed application by deadline.
  • Include two letters of recommendation from teachers, administrators, coaches, or employers to be sent to:

EXPECTATION OF THE STUDENTS

  • Selected students are expected to attend a monthly meeting.
  • Students would be asked to participate in one to three events over the summer months.
  • Students would promote the program as well as events/drives of the Rays at their individual school as well as in their local community.
  • Compile a monthly report/journal of work completed.

EXPECTATION OF THE RAYS

  • The Rays will hold monthly meetings to preview upcoming events, as well as give the students a type of 'Inside the Rays' presentation each week. This could be via presentations or speakers.
  • Help students explore career opportunities as well as provide recommendations when appropriate.
  • Invite students to watch game(s) when appropriate as thanks for dedication to the Rays organization.
