2008 Rays Charity Golf Classic
On Monday, Feb. 25, Rays coaches, players and executives teed off with friends of the Tampa Bay Rays for the 7th Annual Golf Classic. This year's tournament sold out within weeks of the invitations going out. The winning team of Joe Magrane, Joe Boulay, Larry Williams, Mike Vandiver and Tim Bogar shot a 59 to take the trophy. Right-handed pitcher, Chad Orvella, took the longest drive contest away from teammate BJ Upton with a drive of over 300 yards. Manager Joe Maddon, took home the trophy for the JetBlue Challenge by being the closest to the pin in the shootout.
Approximately $100,000 was raised to benefit the Rays Baseball Foundation, the charitable arm of the Tampa Bay Rays.
