The 2009 Rays Charity Golf Classic had beautiful skies on March 11 at The Ritz-Carlton Members Golf Club. Rays players, coaches and broadcasters joined sponsors, season ticket holders, and fans for a full day on the course. The winning team of Rays pitcher Joe Nelson, Richard and Rylan Sanchez, Andy Davis, and Sean McCormick shot a 54 to take the top prize.
We would like to thank Pepsi, Paetec, and Fox Sports Florida for the support of our annual tournament. The golf classic helped to raise over $100,000 which benefits the Rays Baseball Foundation, the charitable arm of the Tampa Bay Rays. The funds go toward the grant programs which include the Field Renovation Grant that helps rebuild fields for future baseball stars.
