Hellickson remains out with sore right hamstring
By Bill Chastain / MLB.com
Hellickson felt some tightness in his right hamstring while warming up for a bullpen session Thursday. He went ahead and threw his bullpen session, but the tightness lingered, which prompted the Rays to shut him down.
"I definitely want to get back out there," Hellickson said. "There's not much concern, just being cautious."
Hellickson has continued to receive treatment from the club's training staff and he's worked out in the pool.
According to a report from Tampa Bay's training staff, Hellickson took part in some indoor activity Sunday and could possibly play catch Monday.
The young righty said he did not see the problem lingering to where it will be a major setback.
"I've been feeling better the last two days," Hellickson said.
Hellickson's performance last season fueled speculation he could win a spot in this year's rotation. Subsequently, the team gained enough confidence in that idea to trade right-hander Matt Garza to the Cubs.
