Rays will re-evaluate status before Tuesday night's game

"I've been playing on it the last three days and it's been sore," Crawford said. "Yesterday, it got to the point where I couldn't deal with it anymore, so today I decided to rest it."
Crawford went in to see Joe Maddon before the lineup was made, and the Rays' manager welcomed his star left fielder letting him know something was wrong.
"I like that," Maddon said. "I've asked the guys to do that all year, because one of the things I want us to do is play with intensity and play hard every night. And if you can't, just come say something and I'm OK with that. And he did, and I'm good with that."
Crawford has struggled with his left hamstring and right knee all season, but just recently he had been feeling better.
"I felt strong [recently]," Crawford said. "I just felt like myself for the first time. I think I might have pushed it a little too much because it was feeling too good."
Crawford said the hamstring feels sore and feels strained.
"Every time I take a step I feel like it's about to pull," Crawford said. "Being on the turf is not going to help that."
Maddon said he felt good that the upcoming road trip will feature ballparks with natural turf in Seattle, Oakland, and Texas. He added the team would re-evaluate Crawford before Tuesday's game.
