Fans will once again have the opportunity to see select games in high definition, as 37 of the Rays' games televised on FSN Florida will also be made available in high definition to HD customers of participating cable and satellite affiliates in Florida, including Verizon FiOS, Knology, Home Town Cable, Advanced Cable, Comcast, DIRECTV and DISH Network (the HD schedule is to be announced).
FSN Florida produces and airs the "Inside the Rays" series, with nine half-hour episodes planned this season. Episodes feature player profiles, with behind-the-scenes stories and interviews, as well as inside access to other aspects of the team and its operations.
"Rays on Deck," FSN's 30-minute pregame show, will air prior to each regular-season away game and for an abbreviated 10 minutes prior to the network's home game telecasts. Todd Kalas, who returns for his 11th season as pregame host and in-game reporter, will again serve as host of "Inside the Rays."
FSN Florida will give fans a preview of the upcoming season with the half-hour "Tampa Bay Rays Preseason Special," hosted by Kalas and premiering March 17 at 7 p.m. ET.
Calling the action for Rays' games on FSN Florida for the 11th consecutive season is the broadcasting team of Dewayne Staats and Joe Magrane, who have worked together on FSN Florida since the team's inaugural 1998 season; the pair has been the team's only television announcers.
FSN Florida's two-game preseason coverage swings into action on March 16 at 1 p.m., when the Rays host the Tigers, followed by the Rays' final game at Al Lang Field, when they host the Reds on March 28 at 1 p.m.
FSN Florida's regular-season coverage begins on April 3 at 7 p.m. against the Orioles. Highlights on FSN Florida's 2008 regional telecast schedule include 10 meetings with the Yankees and nine games with the Red Sox. Interleague matchups include home games against the Marlins, Astros and Cubs, with road games against the Cardinals, Pirates and Marlins. FSN Florida will also televise two of the three games played in Orlando vs. the Blue Jays in April.
