Astros Foundation and Houston Police Foundation to Host Badges & Bases Run
The Astros Foundation is once again teaming up with the Houston Police Foundation to host the 2016 Badges & Bases Run on Saturday, Sept. 17. The 10K/5K and Kids Fun Run will all begin in front of Union Station at Minute Maid Park and will finish inside the ballpark, with proceeds of the charitable event benefitting the two hosting foundations.
Astros Foundation and ROOT Sports to Host Charity Game at Minute Maid Park
The Astros Foundation and ROOT Sports will be hosting the first-ever Astros Foundation Charity Game and live broadcast at Minute Maid Park on Friday, Sept. 9 as the Astros face off against the former NL Central rival Chicago Cubs. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston and USO Houston.
Berman to be inducted into Media Wall of Honor
On Monday, Sept. 26, long-time sports director at KRIV-TV Mark Berman will be inducted into the Houston Baseball Media Wall of Honor. Berman is currently celebrating his 30th year at KRIV-TV in Houston, having joined the Houston FOX affiliate in 1986.
Houston Astros RBI Participant Cameron Lavergne Wins 'RBI for RBI' Scholarship
Houston Astros RBI softball participant Cameron Lavergne has been awarded one of Major League Baseball Charities' college scholarships, valued at $5,000 per year. She becomes one of 12 graduating high school seniors participating in the Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI) program, the Major League Baseball youth baseball and softball initiative for young people from underserved communities, to receive the scholarship.
Correa Named American League Player of the Week
Major League Baseball announced this morning that Houston Astros shortstop Carlos Correa has been named the American League Player of the Week for the week of August 8-14. This marks Correa's second Player of the Week Award this season, also for the week of June 20-26, and the fifth earned by an Astros player in 2016.
Astros Extend PDC with Triple A Fresno
The Houston Astros announced today that the club has extended its Player Development Contract (PDC) with the Triple A Fresno Grizzlies of the Pacific Coast League. The two-year extension continues the affiliation between the Astros and Grizzlies through the 2018 season. The announcement was made by Astros General Manager Jeff Luhnow and Grizzlies General Manager and Executive Vice President Derek Franks at a press conference in Fresno this afternoon.

Tonight's Astros Game Postponed due to Inclement Weather
Tonight's Astros game, which went into a delay in the top of the 3rd inning with the Astros trailing 5-0, has been postponed due to inclement weather conditions. The game will be rescheduled tomorrow as half of a day-night doubleheader at Target Field, with games scheduled for 12:10 p.m. and 6:10 p.m. CT.
Astros Extend PDC with Class A Quad Cities
HOUSTON, TX - The Houston Astros announced today that the club has extended its Player Development Contract (PDC) with the Class A Quad Cities River Bandits of the Midwest League. The two-year extension continues the affiliation between the Astros and River Bandits through the 2018 season. The announcement was made by Astros General Manager Jeff Luhnow, River Bandits owner Dave Heller and River Bandits General Manager Andrew Chesser at a press conference in Davenport, Iowa, this afternoon. "The Houston Astros and Quad Cities River Bandits have formed a strong partnership which we are excited to continue for years to come," said Luhnow. "Our players and staff benefit from their time in Quad Cities, and we will continue to strive to field competitive teams year in and year out." "The Astros are a first-rate organization from top to bottom, and we at the River Bandits are delighted to continue our relationship with them," said Heller. "They've consistently delivered championship level clubs to the Quad Cities, and they are completely committed to player development. They've been great partners, and they are building a loyal following here in the Quad Cities. We are excited to extend our affiliation with them for another two years." The current partnership between the two clubs began in 2013, although it is their second affiliation. Houston was the Major League affiliate of Quad Cities from 1993-98, during which time the River Bandits had three first-place finishes in a four-year span (1995-98). Since their most recent partnership began, the River Bandits have made the playoffs twice, winning a division title and a Midwest League Championship in 2013. Nine players currently on the Astros Major League roster spent part of their minor league development in Quad Cities, including IF Alex Bregman, SS Carlos Correa, RHP Chris Devenski, RHP Michael Feliz, OF Tony Kemp, RHP Lance McCullers, RHP Joe Musgrove, IF A.J.
