White Sox-KC rained out; makeup set for Monday
Axelrod will start Saturday's series opener, Peavy a possibility for finale
KANSAS CITY -- The bottom line regarding the postponement of Friday's White Sox-Royals game is that it keeps the White Sox from having to scramble for a Saturday starter.
With everything pushed back a day, the Sox will go with Dylan Axelrod against Kansas City's Jeremy Guthrie in the series opener on Saturday night, while Jose Quintana will face Wade Davis on Sunday afternoon.
Jake Peavy, who experienced back spasms and had to be scratched from a scheduled start on Thursday at Texas, is a possibility for the Monday makeup at 1:10 p.m. CT versus James Shields, if Peavy is deemed healthy.
Friday postponement came at 3 p.m. CT, as a cold rain fell at Kauffman Stadium. With both the Royals and White Sox having an open date on Monday, the decision was made quickly to simply push the three-game series back a day.
The White Sox have now had three weather-related postponements and Kansas City has had five, with two of those games having already been made up.
