The San Francisco Giants 2012 World Series Champions Ring Unveiled
Giants Community Fund to Raffle Player Ring to benefit Junior Giants
The San Francisco Giants today unveiled the 2012 World Championship Ring before a sold out crowd at AT&T Park.
Members of the 2012 team, coaches, field manager, general manager and trainers received their rings from Giants President & CEO Larry Baer on the field during a pre-game ceremony. Giants Hall of Famers Gaylord Perry, Orlando Cepeda, Juan Marichal, Willie McCovey and Willie Mays received their rings first, followed by Senior Vice President and General Manager Brian Sabean and Field Manager Bruce Bochy.
"It is an honor to be in the unique position of presenting the second championship ring in three years," said Baer. "This ring symbolizes the difficult journey the 2012 team traveled to reach the pinnacle in our sport. It is a proud day for our organization and for Giants fans everywhere."
Designed and produced by Tiffany & Co., the 2012 San Francisco Giants World Series Champions Ring pays tribute to the Giants seven World Championships and the unprecedented six elimination game victories which led them to a sweep of the Detroit Tigers in the World Series.
The face of the white gold championship ring features the San Francisco "SF" logo in 52 round melee diamonds. A bezel reading "World Champions" is highlighted on both the top and bottom of the ring. Seven round diamonds, on both sides, represent the organization's seven world championships. While one of the rings' shanks features the player's name and uniform number and an iconic San Francisco cable car design, the second shank celebrates the franchise's 2012 postseason victories that led to the championship.
"Tiffany & Co. has a long standing history of creating Major League Baseball's Commissioner's Trophy," said Tom O'Rourke, vice president Tiffany & Co. "We are proud to partner and celebrate, once again, the San Francisco Giants' victory with the creation of the 2012 championship rings which pays tribute to the team's dedication and achievement."
