Wright able to resume activities 'as tolerated'
Mets to revisit third baseman's status before Friday's game
NEW YORK -- The Mets rested Thursday. David Wright rested. All remains status quo for the third baseman.
The team released a statement to that effect on Thursday afternoon, saying that a hand specialist at the Hospital for Special Surgery told Wright he can resume baseball activities "as tolerated." The Mets will review Wright's status again prior to Friday's game in Philadelphia.
Wright has not played since fracturing his right pinkie finger in Monday's game against the Nationals. He was batting .583 with one home run in four games prior to his injury.
If Wright cannot tolerate the pain and the Mets place him on the disabled list, second baseman Daniel Murphy is a candidate to shift over to his natural position at third. But manager Terry Collins said Wednesday that he was optimistic Wright will avoid a DL trip.
