Rays Press Release
Rays introduce Burst Pass to season ticket holders
Rays are First MLB Team to Offer Unique Program
The Tampa Bay Rays, in partnership with Fortress US, will introduce a new program exclusively for season ticket holders during the 2012 season. The new initiative, called the Burst Pass, is a stored value card that will serve as a season ticket holder I.D. card and provide season ticket holders with a 12 percent cash bonus for every dollar loaded onto their card.
These funds may be used to make purchases at the Tropicana Field Team Store, fixed concession stands, and restaurants around the ballpark. Burst Pass holders will also receive access to special promotions and discounts throughout the season.
The Burst Pass is a radio-frequency (RF) enabled stored value card that uses encrypted chip technology to complete transactions and share data. This "contactless" technology results in transactions times much faster than cards utilizing a typical magnetic stripe.
"The Burst Pass is a convenient way for Rays fans to save money and time at Tropicana Field, and provides a powerful new platform for us to better understand the needs of our customers," said Rays Senior Vice President of Development and Business Affairs Michael Kalt, "We are excited to introduce this program to our season ticket holders for the 2012 season."
Fortress US has partnered with the Rays to provide the technology platform for the Burst Pass. A leading supplier of loyalty, membership and stored value solutions, Fortress has equipped over 110 of the most visible sports facilities in Europe and worldwide, including England's Premiership Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool, installations in France, Italy, Ireland, Norway, Poland, Denmark and others and three stadiums for the 2010 world cup in South Africa.
"Fortress is delighted to join forces with the Tampa Bay Rays, sharing its vast European experience with the team to deliver an enhanced event day experience to the fans. Fortress' InSite™ platform and the Burt Pass card will enable Rays' fans to tighten their relationship with the team, get better service at points of sale around the stadium and receive the recognition they deserve for their long-term loyalty. Fortress looks forward to working with the Rays on introducing further innovative fan centric applications on the Burst Pass card" said Mika Weinstein Lustig, Head of Business Development Fortress Group.
The Rays are the first team in Major League Baseball to offer a stored value program via the Fortress platform.
The Burst Pass will be delivered to season ticket holders in mid-April and will go live at the Friday, April 20 game against the Minnesota Twins. Season ticket holders have been sent $15 in coupons for the season-opening series against the New York Yankees, April 6-8.
