Rays at the plate: Pat Burrell, facing his former team for the first time, received a nice ovation from Phillies fans before he popped out to second baseman Miguel Cairo in the first inning. Burrell later doubled down the left-field line to lead off the fourth. Left fielder Ray Sadler hit a solo homer to left field in the second. Shortstop Ray Olmedo went 3-for-3 and center fielder Justin Ruggiano went 2-for-3 with a triple and one RBI. Elliot Johnson ripped a two-run shot in the ninth.

Phillies at the plate: Shane Victorino's single to right field in the first inning scored Jimmy Rollins from second base for a 1-0 lead. Ryan Howard, who went 2-for-3, followed two batters later with a two-run homer to left field to make it 3-0. John Mayberry, who went 2-for-4 with two RBIs in place of Jayson Werth, followed with a solo homer. Miguel Cairo, who went 2-for-3, capped the scoring in the first with a solo shot to left.

Rays on the mound: Right-hander Mitch Talbot, who is competing for the fifth spot in the rotation, allowed six hits and five runs in three innings. Right-hander Lance Cormier allowed a run in two innings, and left-hander J.P. Howell threw a scoreless frame.

Phillies on the mound: Kyle Kendrick, who is competing for the fifth starter's job, allowed four hits and one run in 2 2/3 innings. Mike Koplove threw a scoreless inning, and Scott Eyre allowed two hits and one run in one inning. Clay Condrey tossed a scoreless frame.

Grapefruit League records: Rays 1-2; Phillies 1-3.
