Rays sell out Saturday night's game
LL Cool J concert follows team's matchup vs. Tigers
TORONTO -- Rays fever continues to spread, evidenced by the fact that Saturday night's Rays-Tigers game at 6:10 ET at Tropicana Field is sold out.
The Rays announced that tickets were gone by 4 p.m. on Tuesday. Following Saturday night's game, LL Cool J will perform as part of the Rays' 2008 Summer Concert Series presented by Hess Express.
"It's the earliest sellout we've had since '98," Rays spokesman Rick Vaughn said. "I think it's a combination of the way we're playing and the concert series."
All that remain are a limited number of obstructed-view seats. This marks the fifth sellout of 2008, a club record for a single season. It is also the earliest sellout at Tropicana Field since the inaugural game in 1998, when the Rays played the Tigers.
Rays fans can arrive at Saturday night's game feeling confident that the team can win. The Rays are 14-1 this year at home in front of 30,000 or more fans and 16-2 when more than 25,000 fans are at Tropicana Field.
