Floyd's wife gives birth Saturday
Rays designated hitter welcomes new baby girl, Layla
KANSAS CITY -- Cliff Floyd and his wife Maryanne welcomed a new daughter into the world on Saturday.
Layla was born at 12:47 p.m. ET in Edgewater, Fla., weighing 6 pounds, 10 ounces. Floyd flew back to Florida on Saturday morning to be there for the birth. He is now the father of three children, as Layla joins Bria, 4, and Tobias, 2.
Manager Joe Maddon was pleased when Floyd told him about the musical origin of the baby's name.
"Derek and the Dominos had one of the best beginnings of any song ever recorded," Maddon said.
