Reds at the plate: Facing his former team for the first time, Rule 5 Draft pick Josh Hamilton was 1-for-3 with an infield single to second base in the second inning. Alex Gonzalez was 1-for-2 with a first-inning double. Gonzalez scored on a groundout. Edwin Encarnacion hit an RBI single in the fourth inning.Rays at the plate: Rocco Baldelli hit a solo home run in the sixth inning against David Weathers. Tampa Bay collected three hits in the game. Reds on the mound: For the second time in two outings, Bronson Arroyo was sensational. Arroyo worked five shutout innings with two hits allowed and no walks. He struck out two. Top prospect Homer Bailey pitched one scoreless inning. Rays on the mound: Fifth-starter candidate Edwin Jackson allowed one run and two hits in three innings of work. Jackson did not walk a batter and struck out two. Another competitor for the fifth spot, J.P. Howell gave up one earned run and three hits in three innings with one walk and one strikeout. Grapefruit League records: Reds 11-2; Devil Rays 1-13. Up next: The Reds will play split-squad games on Thursday, both against the Pirates. There is a 1:05 p.m. ET game set in Bradenton with a nightcap scheduled in Sarasota at 7:05 p.m. The Devil Rays travel to Winter Haven for a 7:05 p.m. ET game against the Indians.
