Devil Rays fall to Red Sox
By Bob Bellone / MLB.com

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Manny Ramirez hit a grand slam on Wednesday to help the Red Sox beat the Devil Rays, 6-3.

Pedro Martinez (18-4) earned the victory, while Paul Wilson (6-10) took the loss.

The Red Sox are now 9-0 at Tropicana Field this season.

Devil Rays starter Paul Wilson (6-10) held the Red Sox scoreless on two hits through four innings. He didn't survive the fifth, however, allowing two singles and a walk before Ramirez drilled a 1-2 pitch into the left-field stands.

Wilson was pulled after Cliff Floyd followed with a double and scored on a single by Brian Daubach.

John Flaherty staked the Devil Rays to a 2-0 lead with a two-run homer off Martinez (18-4) in the second inning. He made it 5-3 with an RBI single in the sixth.

Aubrey Huff went hitless in four at-bats to halt his 17-game hitting streak, one shy of the Tampa Bay record.

The Devil Rays have won only twice in 15 games against Boston this year. They are 1-8 entering the finale of a 10-game homestand on Thursday afternoon.
