Joe Maddon's Thanksmas returns bigger and better
11/27/2007 2:15 PM ET
Rays Manager Joe Maddon started a Rays tradition in 2006 when he prepared a holiday meal for approximately 300 needy individuals at the St. Vincent de Paul Society in St. Petersburg.

This year, the Rays third-year manager is spreading the event into Hillsborough and Manatee Counties as well. In addition to a return visit to the St. Vincent de Paul Society on Wednesday, December 12, Maddon and Rays front office staff will prepare and serve meals for the Salvation Army in Bradenton on Tuesday, December 11 and Metropolitan Ministries in Tampa on Thursday, December 13.

Maddon will handle the purchase of all groceries at the South Tampa Sam's Club on Sunday, December 9 beginning at 1:00 p.m.

On Monday, December 10 at 10:00 a.m. he and his volunteers will begin food preparations at Tropicana Field's Centerplate kitchen.
